First Light Shelter, provider of emergency shelter and support services for homeless women, is hosting its upcoming fundraising event, the Big Apple Gala presented by Pace, on Thursday, April 25 from 6 to 10 p.m. This New York City-themed extravaganza will be hosted at The Farrell in Homewood and aims to raise funds and awareness to further its mission of ending homelessness in the Greater Birmingham Area. This elegant evening will feature an array of special events and activities, including dinner, bourbon tastings, local celebrity bartenders, live auction, live music and more, providing the perfect backdrop for a night of celebration and philanthropy! Get ready to dazzle in your finest cocktail attire, NYC-style! Indulge in gourmet cuisine from Tre Luna, sip on beer, wine and enjoy an exclusive bourbon tasting with Scott Jones from Jones is Thirsty. Since December 1983, First Light has been a beacon of hope for homeless women in Greater Birmingham. What started as a small initiative in a church basement, sparked by compassion for women sleeping on church steps, has blossomed into a vital institution. With a heartwarming history, including a move to a refurbished historic hotel post-fire in 2000, First Light remains dedicated to providing shelter and support.
