The Jefferson County Historical Association (JCHA) is pleased to announce that
Bill Finch, an award-winning writer, botanist, natural historian and specialist in landscape interpretation
and restoration, will be the featured speaker at its quarterly meeting on Thursday, October 10th. Held
at the Emmet O’Neal Library, a reception will begin at 6:30pm with the lecture at 7pm.
Finch will be speaking on the importance of preserving Alabama’s entire rich cultural and historical
legacy alongside its rich biodiversity. Alabama’s distinctive cultures have always grown out of her
extraordinary landscape and its biodiversity. And Alabama’s cultural future – and likely much of Eastern
North America – depends on redeveloping an awareness of our biological riches.
